WRITING 1

To create a compelling backstory for your character, start by considering key elements such as their past, personality, motivations, and relationships with others in the play. Here’s a structure you can follow:

Character Backstory:

[Character Name] was born in [hometown], a small, close-knit community where everyone knew each other’s stories. Growing up, [he/she/they] always felt a little different. [Describe any early influences, struggles, or dreams.] As a child, [character name] was fascinated by [something that links to their role in the play], which eventually shaped their perspective on the world.

As [he/she/they] grew older, life took a complicated turn. [Insert a pivotal event or challenge that changed the character’s life, whether it was a family issue, personal struggle, or an external challenge]. This event made [character name] more [insert character traits, such as determined, reserved, etc.], and it influenced the way [he/she/they] interact with others in the present day.

Now, in the present moment of the play, [character name] finds themselves at a crossroads. [Explain what they’re dealing with at the start of the play, how they feel about it, and what their goals are]. Their relationships with others are complicated, particularly with [mention any important characters in the plot]. These dynamics will play a significant role in how the story unfolds, with twists and turns affecting their journey.

[Character name] is not just a passive player in the events. With a strong sense of [justice, duty, loyalty, etc.], they are ready to make difficult decisions and face whatever challenges lie ahead. However, the past may come back to haunt them, and how they choose to deal with it will define their ultimate path.

By including these details, you’ll give your character depth and substance, making it easier for other characters to interact with and react to your character’s choices and personality throughout the plot.

Last weekend, LUIGI AND NALDO decided to go on a fishing trip. They believed it was the BEST time to relax after a busy week. The lake was on a quiet ISLAND, far from the noise of the city. THERE WERE no other people around, so it was peaceful.

Luigi said, “This place is much THINNER than the rivers we usually fish in.” Naldo laughed and replied, “Yes, but the air here is fresher, and the fish seem BIGGER.” They both agreed that it was the MOST SERIOUS fishing spot they had ever been to.

As they set up their gear, Naldo accidentally dropped his PEN into the water. “Oh no! That was my favorite pen!” he exclaimed in PAIN. Luigi tried to comfort him, saying, “Don’t worry, at least there are many fish to catch.”

While fishing, they talked about their lives. Naldo said, “I want to LIVE here forever. It’s so peaceful.” Luigi replied, “Yes, but we can’t LEAVE our families behind.”

Suddenly, Naldo felt a strong pull on his fishing rod. “I think I’ve caught the BIGGEST fish!” he shouted. Luigi quickly grabbed the THIN fishing net, ready to help. But the fish was so strong that it knocked over their TIN of bait. The situation was both funny and frustrating, as the fish escaped and the bait was scattered everywhere.

As the day continued, they enjoyed the warm sun and calm breeze. Naldo pointed to a small path nearby and said, “Do you KNOW where that leads?” Luigi replied, “No, but let’s explore it later. It might be the MOST DELICIOUS adventure we’ve ever had.”

At the end of the day, they packed up and reflected on the trip. THERE WAS something special about fishing in a quiet, beautiful place like this. Luigi and Naldo promised to return again soon, for another relaxing weekend filled with laughs and perhaps more successful catches.
